As always on November 1, Harbord Street was glowing with pumpkins from Spadina to Borden. There were ghouls and ghosts and monsters and super heroes and, of course, one or two Donald Trumps. The chill of the night was warmed by hot cider from Her Father’s Cider Bar and Clay Design and steaming chai from Elchi Chai Shop topped off with cookies and butter tarts from Harbord Bakery.
On Saturday, 14 October, The Doctors’ Parkette and Margaret Fairley Park were officially opened. Councillor Cressy praised HVRA for providing support and interest in helping to create these two wonderful, green additions to the neighbourhood. Special thanks were given to Richard Longley for his vigilance and interest in the renovation of The Doctors’
On 17 October 2017, Toronto and East York Community Council unanimously passed a rezoning application to add an 11-storey infill to the south of the “tower in a park” apartment building at 666 Spadina. As part of the rezoning package, Cromwell Developments agreed to cede the green space along Sussex to the City for a public park and will create a second park space along Sussex Mews Laneway,
If you’ve been strolling the lanes in NW Harbord Village, you might have noticed a team of artists painting colourful murals on garage doors along David French and Barbara Barrett lanes. This neighbourhood beautification project was sponsored by the Tranzac Club and Street ART Toronto,

Everyone who was in Margaret Fairley Park on Sunday, Sept. 10, would agree that this year’s HVRA Fall Fair was a great success. From noon to 6 pm, the music never stopped nor did the good times. Kids ran between face painting to dancing to swinging in the play area.
