On Friday, Dec. 22, HVRA was sent updated plans for the University’s proposed Sussex-Spadina residence. They will form the basis of the OMB pre-hearing scheduled for Jan. 3, 2018. The documents can be downloaded from this link.
While there are changes in detail, many aspects of the plans remain disappointing. These community concerns remain:
- Heritage preservation
- Number of beds
- Demographic mix of student population
- Lack of greenspace
- Plans for displaced tenants
Read a fuller analysis on our Spadina-Sussex webpage, along with an account of past discussions and continuing concerns.
These plans will be dealt with at the OMB under the old rules. Residents are welcome to sign up to be engaged in the hearings, either as parties (who can cross-examine and put evidence before the board, but must attend all hearings) or as participants (with the right to present their personal opinions on the matter should there be a full hearing).
Status will be determined at the pre-hearing on Jan. 3, 10 a.m., 655 Bay Street, 16th floor. The title for the hearing is the street address: 698, 700, 702, 704, 706 Spadina and 54 Sussex Avenue. PL170621
Attend if you wish to participate. Mediation before the OMB may follow.
