The owner is delightful, and the coffee is amazing. The Toronto Star of April 25 profiles Leighton Walters, who opened Found Coffee at 324 College at the start of the pandemic, and has kept it open by making customers happy. His backstory includes 63 hospital stays, but has given him contagious optimism and a fine way with words:
- “I’m a firm believer that your passion is your permission.”
- “I want to be a living, walking, talking example that a birth defect doesn’t need to become a life defect.”
- “When we get put under pressure, that’s when the real stuff comes out. I mean, you’ve got to grind and press the coffee before getting the flavour.”
- “If you want to impact someone’s everyday life, you should impact something they do every day — for me, that’s specialty coffee.”
