HVRA 2026 Spring General Meeting: Wed. May 20, 7–9 p.m

It’s time to meet in person again! Zoom fatigue has set in for many, so we want to go back to a real gathering where people can meet the board and each other.

Thus, we will host the spring general meeting on Wednesday May 20 at Central Technical School, Conference Room 208. Our guest speaker is Sarah Carney from the NORC Innovation Centre at University Health Network, talking about Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities.

We will also conduct regular business and present financial and other reports. There will be breakout sessions with Area Reps to discuss issues important to each HV area. We will hear updates from our Councillor and MPP.

Finally, we will honour our most recent Community Builder Award winners.

This is a great chance to connect with your neighbours and get involved in your community. All are welcome to attend, but only paid-up HVRA members will be able to vote*—so be sure to renew before the meeting! (Check your membership status at https://harbordvillage.com/membership/ —and invite your neighbours to join!).

* Please note we will be voting on a constitutional amendment to consolidate our membership categories. You can read the details of the motion below.

  • Whereas the current HVRA Constitution states in section 3. Membership, subsection (e), that:
  • Voting membership is available in two types, Individual or Family (two or more persons occupying the same accommodation). Each membership is entitled to one vote.”;
  • and whereas having a separate “Family” membership has become intractably difficult to administer effectively with our current membership software and also disenfranchises potential voters by limiting votes to one per household;
  • it is therefore moved that HVRA eliminate the “Family” membership as a category and delete subsection (e).  Effectively immediately, no further Family memberships will be offered. Any current Family memberships will retain their status until they are up for renewal, but will need to be renewed as Individual ones.
