Coldest Night of the Year: Fundraising for Fort York Food Bank! Sat. Feb. 26

BIG SUCCESS! HVRA teams raised over $11,000 towards FYFB’s total of more than $67,000. Team HVRA South won a prize for top team, with Team HVRA North in second place. Many thanks to our team captains, walkers, and donors! Thanks as well to FYFB board member and HV resident Jorge Muina for helping us get the ball rolling

……………….

Looking for a way to do some good in our neighbourhood? If your New Year’s resolution was to get outside more or to help those in need, you can do both by joining FYFB for Coldest Night of the Year, an annual family-friendly fundraising walk supporting local charities. This year’s event will be held the evening of Saturday February 26, with options for both in-person and virtual participation.

This is the first year FYFB is joining the CNOY initiative — they need your help to reach their goal of $30,000. In support, HVRA has created two teams to see who can raise the most money for FYFB!

One challenge is North of Harbord (led by NW Area Rep Kerry Clare) vs South of Harbord (led by Secretary  Karen Laurence). Decide whether you want to walk (your choice of 2 km and 5 km routes, starting at the food bank), volunteer, or just donate, and join your team online.  Eager volunteers can contact team captains directly.

Then reach out to your neighbours, friends, and family and ask them to support this very worthwhile neighbourhood non-profit.

Want to start your own team? That would be great too! Go to Coldest Night of the Year 2022 – Toronto Fort York. Just click on the Register to Walk box, and away you go! (If possible try to use HVRA or Harbord Village hashtags in your publicity).

(FYFB will be taking all recommended COVID safety precautions for their in-person walk — and if restrictions won’t allow for walking together on Feb. 26, they will be ready to shift to virtual walks.)

We hope to see you on February 26!
