Annual General Meeting Wed. 18 Oct. 2017
Wednesday, 18 October 2017, 6:30–9:00 p.m., 45 Brunswick Avenue
Find out what’s new and newsworthy, and reconnect with fellow Harbord Village residents after the summer! Light refreshments will be available.
Meetings begin with area caucuses where neighbours discuss local concerns and report back briefly to the full group. Each caucus elects two area representatives as members of the HVRA Board.

The main meeting opens with brief caucus reports—with notes taken so the Board can follow up. Agenda highlights include reports from some HVRA committees and officers, a vote on two small constitutional changes (text below), election of board officers, announcement of the Community Builder Awards, and Councillor Cressy’s semi-annual update.
The guest speaker this year will be Andrew Farncombe from City Planning on the topic “Harbord Village in the Vision of the New Downtown.”
Join us for an informative and enjoyable evening!
Notice of Proposals for Constitutional Change
Besides the board elections, another item of business is a membership vote on two proposals. These are revisions to the 2016 restructuring of the HVRA Board. They replace the Communications Director with a Communications Committee (already operating as an ad hoc coordinating group), and they add Webmaster as an elected Board position.
PROPOSED CHANGES
Article 6 (a), current version: There shall be six (6) officers of the Association: a Chair, a Vice Chair, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Membership Secretary, and a Communications Director.
Article 6 (a), proposed revision: There shall be six (6) officers of the Association: a Chair, a Vice Chair, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Membership Secretary, and a Webmaster.
Article 6 (h), current version: The Communications Director shall, as directed by the Board, develop and implement the systems by which the HVRA Board communicates with its members and with the broader community, including the oversight, management, and production of the semi-annual Newsletter as well as providing guidance and support to the webmaster of the HVRA website.
Article 6 (h), proposed revision: The primary responsibility of the Webmaster shall be, as authorized by the Board, to develop and maintain the public HVRA website. With other members of the Communications Committee, the Webmaster will help coordinate website content with other forms of public communication, and will use web-server capacities to support internal Board communication. The Webmaster will also work with other Board Officers to maintain the Membership system and Board records on the website.
