Upcoming Events in the Harbord Village
Submitted by Tim Grant on 24 August, 2010 - 20:45.Greetings all. I hope that you and yours have enjoyed the best of the Summer thus far. (I for one am welcoming the cooler temperatures of late!)
With the Summer winding down, it’s time to take out your calendar and add some important dates because there are some wonderful neighbourhood events just around the corner. Here they are in order……………..
HVRA’s FALL FAIR, Sunday, September 12th, 12-7pm, Brunswick and Ulster
Our annual Fall Fair is soon upon us. What a wonderful opportunity to meet neighbours, enjoy live music, purchase locally-baked goods, bid on silent auction items, enjoy foods and beverages of all kinds, win raffle prizes and watch young kids get their faces painted. New this year is a display of art by neighbourhood artists. Who could ask for more? (To see our beautiful Fall Fair poster in full colour, visit www.harbordvillage.com.)

Tues, May 18th: HVRA Spring Meeting & 2 other events. Plus 5 events beyond
Submitted by Tim Grant on 14 May, 2010 - 10:27.Greetings! On this beautiful sunny day, I want to draw your attention to 3 important events this coming Tuesday evening, and 5 more in the weeks to come………….
Tuesday, May 18th
2pm: Free Compost, Margaret Fairley Parkette, Brunswick and Ulster
Get it while it lasts, and it never lasts long!
6-7:30pm: Public Meeting about 245 College Street, Lillian Smith Library, 239 College Street
Join Councillor Vaughan to hear details and provide feedback about a proposed development at 245 College Street. This site is on the south side of College, east of Spadina, and is the former home of the UofT Press. The developer proposes to build private student housing up to 41 stories in height. Our Councillor has urged the proponents to significantly reduce the height of their building, both to reduce its impact on its neighbours and to avoid creating a precedent for similar-sized buildings moving west of Spadina. If you plan to attend, RSVP at Councillor_Vaughan@toronto.ca or 416-392-4044.

4 Ways to Beat the Winter Blues in the Harbord Village
Submitted by Tim Grant on 31 January, 2010 - 22:45.Greetings all. Here are four ways to beat the mid-Winter blues.........
1) Visit HVRA's revitalized website at www.harbordvillage.com.
If you haven’t visited HVRA’s Web site recently, please take a look (go to www.harbordvillage.com). Thanks to the efforts of our new webmaster, Harbord Village resident Wendy Smith, the site has been transformed. The new site is easier to navigate but the big improvements are in the content and the layout. Much of what is at the site has been updated. Our intention is to keep things there as current as possible and as useful as possible to HVRA members.
