1: Our Annual Spring Meeting
Will be held a week Tuesday-May 26- at Kensington Health Centre at 25 Brunswick - entrance is between Brunswick and Major just north of College
6:30 to 7:00 meet and greet, pay your dues
7:00 to 7:30 Area Caucuses
7:30 to 8:00 HVRA reports, Councillor Adam Vaughan State of the Ward and City
8:00 to 9:00 Special topics
-The City's new Garbage System - Good and Bad

2: News from HERO
Fresh off the presses: To date 56 households have signed up for the HVRA HERO (Hero Home Energy Retrofit Opportunity) project which is designed to make our homes more energy efficient and less costly to run. The first data analysis on home energy assessments done by Carson-Dunlop clearly establishes the biggest energy and cost savings for our houses is sealing all those little drafts around windows, window trim,water pipes, baseboards, electric plugs. So getting our households more energy tight, could cost as little as $500, would attract government rebates and reduce your energy bills by as much as 10%. 1: Our annual Spring Meeting will be Tuesday May 26 - 7-9 pm at the KHC 25 Brunswick Avenue. Special topics are: The New Garbage/Recycling Bins: Good & Bad plus Getting the Lead out of your Water.
Where you come in is that we have a tradition of recognizing people who have done something special for Harbord Village-- We call them "Community Builders" and it could be for: a great renovation, a special garden, making peace amongst neighbours, took charge of a street project, -- you know, fought the good fight and made us all proud.

Earth Hour in Harbord Village

As you all may be aware, tomorrow, Saturday March 28th, is the day the world will participate in Earth Hour and we here in Harbord Village are well placed to do our part

What it is about:
A few years ago the Citizens of Sydney Australia got behind the idea of dimming the lights throughout the city in the belief that it would increase the awareness of the fragility of the earth in the face of global warming in the big picture and our individual responsibility for our own carbon foot print on the micro level.. It was massively successful and the movement has since spread world wide..
